They are known for having lots of energy and high intelligence making them easy to train. But even more important, the Arabian horses are known for having a very gentle disposition, and that’s why they are so popular with competitors and riding hobbyists.

The Arabian horse is probably the most recognizable horse among horse lovers and people who have never ridden a horse in their lives. That’s because Arabian horses have been in existence for at least 4,500 years. The ancient horse was smaller than today’s horse, but in every other way the horse has virtually not changed. That’s amazing if you really think about that fact. The design of the original horse is so perfect that evolution has not had to make many improvements.
The first Arabian horses are believed to be from the Middle East, but there is an ongoing debate about which country was the Arabian horse’s first home. Some believe it was from East Mediterranean Countries such as Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Egypt, while others believe it was from Arabia peninsula. But what is known for sure is Arabian horses lived and worked in the desert since their known existence. They were first used by the Bedouin tribes and were almost like a member of the family. As a result, Arabian horses have been around people for thousands of years and are considered one of the gentler horses.
The history of Arabian horses covers the world. Arabian horses were used by Egyptians to pull chariots. Because they are strong horses, ancient peoples used them to ride long distances making inter-cultural contact possible. The Arabian horse saw the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, is mentioned in the Old Testament, was a captured prize during the Crusades, and served as a mount for Ottoman Turks set on capturing Europe. The horses spread throughout Europe as a result. In Russia, Peter the Great began breeding the horses because he needed their reliability during war. The horse came to North America with the Spanish explorers and European settlers. The horses were even imported to Australia in the late 1700’s. Arabian horses now live around the world and are equally admired by all nationalities.
Arabian horses have a very hearty constitution as a result of developing in the desert. Dependent upon human beings for food and water in the harsh climate, they had to be powerful animals in order to carry humans and supplies through desert sands. Americans have loved Arabian horses ever since the first imported stallion to the colonies. The horses were a major exhibit at the 1893 World’s Fair and ever since that time the breeding of Arabian horses has become legendary. Several breeds of horses have been directly imported from places like Turkey and Arabia. Bloodlines are carefully preserved to maintain the purity of the horses.
Arabian horses have qualities that are now inherited from generation to generation. The horses are affectionate and seldom cause trouble. They are extremely strong and considered too courageous. Arabians horses are used in almost every horse sport due to their versatility. They are used for recreational trail riding, racing, and arena shows that include reining and jumping. In other words, Arabian horses are flexible and agile. They have plenty of stamina and make a perfect horse for all age riders. The Arabian can go long distances and has endurance levels unmatched by any other horse.
Arabian horses are beautiful horses with a proud carriage and high tail. If any horse can be considered perfectly designed, it is the Arabian horse. Loved by people for thousands of years, Arabian horses are workers, competitors and friends.
