| Arabian Horse Show Bridles
There are two major kinds of horse show bridles, called English bridle and Western bridle that are used as Arabian horse show bridles. A bridle is a part of the horse tack and is placed over the head with a piece also going into the mouth. The reins are attached to the bridle, and it allows the rider to give the horse instructions.
The English bridle has a piece call a headstall. The headstall is the leather that fits over the horse head. The reins and bits of the Arabian horse show bridles are attached to the headstall. Since the straps of the headstall fit snugly, the bit is held steady in the mouth. A regular bit is a straight bar that is placed inside the mouth and is attached to the reins. The leveraged bit may or may not have a raised bump, which hits the roof of the horse mouth. The bit hits the top of the horse mouth when the rider pulls on the reins. Some bits have a jointed construction that breaks inside the mouth instead of applying pressure. These are called snaffle bits.
For Horse In-Hand showing, the snaffle bridle must be used on horses that are 3 years old or older. The snaffle bit is also used on very young horses and horses in training. English riding competitions, of which there are many, use snaffle bits too for Arabian horse show bridles. If the horse is under 2 years old, it must wear a stable halter. For Sport Horse Under Saddle class, a snaffle bridle is used with a snaffle bit. For Horse Show Hack, either a snaffle or double bridle is used.
A Western bridle serves the same purpose as the English bridle. It also has a headstall to which the bit and reins are attached. The bridle allows the rider to work the bit inside the horse’s mouth. Once again, with a leveraged bit, when the rider pulls on the reins, the bit applies pressure on the roof of the horse’s mouth. This makes the horse move its head. The reins and bit are like the steering mechanism. Arabian horse show bridles that are Western style are used for Western performance classes.
When buying Arabian show horse bridles, it is important to buy one of good quality. Bridles that are cheaply made can break easily. If a bridle breaks, you can lose control of the horse. Cheap bridles can also lose their shape. When that happens the bridle will not fit well, and once again you will potentially lose control of the horse.
A bridle that fits well will sit easily in the horse’s mouth. If you don’t properly fit the bridle, it can cause the bit to damage the horse’s mouth. You should also check the way the bit sits in the mouth, and the tautness of the bridle straps frequently.
You can buy Arabian horse show bridles online. There are many different types of bridles and bits, and you should choose the one that matches your horse’s age and training level.
